My name is Mitchell Annis. I will be running in the Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon on March 21st to raise money for the Foundation to Eradicate Duchenne. When I moved to D.C. two years ago, one of the first people I met was James Wood. Over dinners and visits to James’s home, I got to know his wonderful parents, Joel and Dana. No people are more loving and generous. If you know James, then you know that he has Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a painful genetic disease that primarily affects boys and is caused by a mutation on the X chromosome. Duchenne muscular dystrophy causes significant discomfort, severely impacting the overall well-being and quality of life of those affected. Despite these challenges, James always keeps his sense of humor and is never without a joke. I don’t know many people as strong or determined as James, whose example of courage and bravery lifts everyone around him. My goal is to raise $5,000 to support research toward a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy— and with your help, we can exceed that and make a real difference in the lives of these children who are fighting every day.
